David Sharpe is back on the internet marketing bandwagon with Legendary Marketer after the epic FTC SHUTDOWN of Empower Network some years ago.
So naturally, a review would best help those who are seeking to start their digital marketing career. Because after all, you’re looking for something legit which also doesn’t cost so much.
For less than $1,000 I certainly found something very affordable. It isn’t MLM at all. Thousands of people have already taken this training, mostly aged 21 to 45.
The best part: it has thousands of existing students that are driven and hungry for success. All through creating digital marketing businesses, without social media.
But more on that later. Let’s delve deeper on David’s Legendary Marketer.
Because you’re looking for the facts, because there are plenty of scams out there.
Evaluation of Legendary Marketer
This is the brain-child of David Sharpe. Is it merely another Empower Network? Nope. It appears to be a bit cleaner, through using affiliate marketing only.
Not only do they have ‘products’ (which are only informational, not real or tangible) but they also have events. They claim to be “online marketing delivered simply and with integrity.” but I bet to differ. 🙄

It was the greatest pyramid scheme around at the time. Matt Lloyd and Digital Altitude came in soon after and subsequently also being shut down the FTC.

The truth is out! Legendary Marketer sounds very similar.
The FTC says the defendants defrauded consumers out of more than $14 million, but provided nothing more than a series of “training” videos, a few PDF documents and so-called “coaching” sessions that turned out to be sales pitches to get people to pay even more
Now that was Digital Altitude. Sounds awfully like what is still happening under a different umbrella. Certainly not something I can advocate that others get involved in.
Legendary Marketer has recruited thousands across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom and throughout Europe. It’s clear to see that this is spreading, but more importantly, that more people are researching…and even some are going for refunds.

While I’m not the biggest fan of this platform, I am inside of the group and David has tagged me a couple of times.
Oddly enough, I haven’t been paid a single dollar in commissions. Why? He’s tagging the wrong individuals. 😅 I wonder if he’s tagging more people than there actually earning commissions.

So already that’s an expensive pursuit.
The best affiliate training is always under $1,000.
Then let’s look at the commissions for each product:
See – everyone is still selling to each other. 😅 Plus, if you read through the affiliate referral plan, you’ll see that it’s a bunch of high-ticket programs that are separated, all of which could be rolled into one.
Fact: It can be very expensive to start and sustain the journey with Legendary Marketer. Not only that, but there are cheaper and better alternatives that are a bit more legitimate, with many more success stories.
I mean, most other programs are rolled into one system. Plus, they can cost significantly less whilst offering much more. My affiliate link below is a great recommendation.
It seems the majority of people merely join Legendary Marketer simply to recruit others. Feels like an MLM scheme, as opposed to using the tools, knowledge, content and information on offer to build their own business without social media.
It is, however, merely a single affiliate program without any downlines. You won’t earn commissions on further enrolments. This is because they got in very hot water with the FTC regarding this years ago.
Potential Legendary Marketer and FTC involvement
Now, of course, Legendary Marketer does have some good training modules on affiliate marketing, internet marketing and personal branding. But it’s very basic.
The whole premise of their training is personal branding in order to (primarily) sell the system. Like they say “In times of a gold rush, sell the shovels!“
That sounds awfully like Empower Network and Digital Altitude. Could we have another FTC take-down on our hands? I believe that’s likely. These schemes operated for a while before the Federal Trade Commission got involved.
It will be interesting to see where this leads. There are numerous affiliates who are actively pushing Legendary Marketer and not calling it a scam. I feel, on the other hand, that it’s certainly ‘off’ with the presentation of this ‘opportunity’ for beginners.
Many people don’t have the financial means to afford a program like this, though they seek to strive gold and get rich quick. It’s just a bit too snake-oily for my liking.
Some will front up money they don’t have through financing, to get an education that isn’t exactly ground-breaking. Many will never make money with this scheme if the results and findings of the past FTC shutdowns are anything to go by.
Building a real business
I’m an advocate of education, I really am. As of today, I’ve now spent $40,000+ on my own
But you know what has made the biggest difference? Avoiding quick success. Nothing happens this fast. I understand the allure of ‘educational’ programs like this.
Many people fall for the hype and sensationalism of schemes like this. Concepts such as “Fast success” or “Quick riches” come to mind. Many hope, wish and pray that it works out for them.
It takes a significant amount of time, knowledge, energy, capital and hard work (actually a shit-load of hard work) to build a real business on the internet. Whether that’s through online marketing, selling on FBA, drop shipping, a SaaS start-up or wholesale distribution, it takes a lot of resources.
Avoid the temptations to fall for scams where the premise is to resell memberships to make the most bang-for-your-buck. Much of the other Legendary Marketer reviews also support my argument through agreement, with current distributors opting to get a refund.
Less than $1,000 elsewhere
Truth be told that all information is available for free on YouTube. Just finding that information laid out in a step-by-step sequence can be challenging.
This brings people to courses. Plus, many YouTube videos become outdated so quickly, with the changes to SEO, algorithms, keywords and metrics. What is hot today might not be so hot tomorrow.
So I can understand the illusion to ‘get rich quick’ through these programs. But at the same time, they can be very expensive for the beginner. Especially if you just want to learn the ropes, without spending a fortune up front.
My #1 recommendation is building an Amazon business. These also require capital, both upfront and ongoing. If you don’t have at least $10,000 to get started for education and inventory, then probably not a wise idea.
My #2 recommendation is niche websites. The type of websites you can start from scratch and build up over time, without using social media, hassling friends or family or trying to figure out where the value is in Legendary Marketer. After all, it’s mostly rehashed content as the other reviews reference.
The best part is that you can actually learn for free. Then the most you’ll need to spend initially for your education will always be under $1,000. No BS.

Because after all, promoting something like Legendary Marketer feels a bit odd. Deep down inside you might question if people are actually going to get the results that others will get, or simply get a refund on the entire system.
David Sharpe has a dark past from the Empower Network days, causing many people to think he’s simply running another scam. Legendary Marketer certainly not a company, nor a mentor, I would want to feel close to.
Because in 2019, there are so many excellent options available. Where everyday people can build their own authoritative websites without spending a fortune.
The best part is that you can earn more money from the doing, than through simply promoting their system for the big-ticket commissions. It just feels more….ethical. Much more ethical.
Building niche websites is one cool strategy that I love to do. Start small, learn the ropes and grow over the next few years. Avoid any temptations of overnight success, because you won’t find it anywhere.
In summary
I would personally skip on Legendary Marketer as should most people since it is overpriced on many fronts…unless your only desire is to make money. 😞 If that’s your guiding star in life, then you’ll struggle a lot. Go for a value-first approach.
If you feel you absolutely must get involved with this questionable company, then I do recommend the cheaper end so that you can get a feel for the system, without outlaying thousands.
Wealthy Affiliate seems to be the core alternative that others are offering. But some people are more driven towards success. They’re not looking for slow and simple. They want to run at 100 miles per hour. That’s me!
