Here is what I believe are the 7 most reliable and trustworthy 3rd party logistics services providing warehousing in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. This is based upon my experiences as an eCommerce seller, particularly eBay and Amazon.

Given Amazon’s dominance, and their 3rd party fulfilment advantages, there are a few service providers that have risen as competitors to the marketplace in recent years. Most are great, and some need to really lift their game.

These 7 companies are those who I trust will deliver results to your business and its fulfillment needs for the long term. They aren’t put into any particular order for complete fairness.

1. NP Fulfilment

Their company name isn’t a typo. This is a good company, backed by an innovative warehouse management system that’s mostly automated. They pride themselves on having orders picked and packed in under 2 hours, guaranteed. As someone who sells 1 particular product that demands fast fulfillment (the product is needed by customers yesterday…) these guys became my 1st choice. Their maximum size is 3kg, which disqualifies a few of you reading this. Their pricing is quite attractive and is available online.

2. McPhee Distribution Services

94 years and still growing strong across 5 generations is a reputation worth commending. These guys mean business, with fulfillment services across Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. They offer a full suite including inbound, management and dispatch. These guys work with some of the biggest names and brands, and are unlikely to work with start-ups.

3. BR International

BR International has 3PL warehousing locations in all major cities across Australia. They are one of the highest organically ranked 3PL providers and offer the full mix of 3PL services. BRi was established in 1984 and is homegrown. The owner, Aaron Poole, was regarded as one of the most important figures in the logistics industry in 2020, he was featured on the cover of Industry Era last year.

4. Pack and Send

These guys are in the fulfillment game now, and are leveraging their existing diverse network. They’ll handle businesses of any size, with both national and international distribution. Their warehousing and 3PL systems aren’t as advanced as those whose focus is simply on 3rd party logistics, but still worth considering given their brand image and international foot-hold through franchises.

5. Fulfilio

This is 3PL solution created by Australia Post themselves. Yes – they’re cashing in on this opportunity too! You wouldn’t believe, simply looking at their impressive website, that it was a brain-child of our own national postal system. When launched, every available slot for clients was taken within months. Luckily, Fulfilio has now expanded with warehouses in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. It’s still tough to get into, but their easy integration with eParcel and range of services make this an attractive option, especially for start-ups.

6. eStore

These guys service those who sell multi-channel. Currently, they only have warehouses in Sydney and Melbourne, with plans for expansion. They’ve been going for 10 years, with a robust system for LCL and FCL in=bound shipments, down to carton size and everything in between.

7. TIFS

One of the most established leaders in the marketplace since 2002, TIFS offer a full range of services. They take it a step further, with design and print management for brand exposure. Despite their age, they only have the single warehouse in Sydney (which is HUGE!) which is a downside if you require fast customer deliveries.

8. Visy 3PL

Yes, once simply a box manufacturer – these guys are providing 3rd party logistics services in Australia too. Visy’s 3PL services run ‘on top’ of their existing network, so they utilize their current fleet and warehouses which are almost everywhere. Better yet, they can help you with excellent pricing on their packaging for customers.

Using a 3rd party logistics company should provide you with a range of advantages. Primarily, they should save you money and time when compared to doing it yourself. You need to look at a range of factors such as speed, cost, reliability and the systems used.

I highly recommend getting 3 quotes and choosing the best provider that suits your needs. This list isn’t extensive, and there are certainly 20 to 30 more providers in Australia, especially those which cover Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (including the Gold Coast) for fulfillment needs.
