Here’s 10 REAL concerns that Amazon sellers face daily

This is a different post entirely. Certainly not the normal around here on the Work With Joshua blog. As a real Amazon seller, I’m going to cover the concerns that I personally face, but is shared among the Amazon seller community too.

concerns

I believe I’ve been as transparent as a human could possibly be on this blog. Selling on Amazon isn’t easy. There’s plenty of ‘gurus’ that will happily claim so, but not me. I cut through the sensationalism. It does take work, and the bigger you are as a seller, the more problems you inherently face.

10 Amazon seller concerns

I’ve personally had my fair share of concerns and threats as an Amazon seller. Yes, there’s dangers involved, but risks can be mitigated. It’s true that the advantages far outweigh the risks, but the risks should not be ignored.

These are in no particular order

  • Returns from customers due to product issues
  • Amazon taking away your selling privileges
  • Negative and nasty seller / product feedback
  • Competition with Amazon themselves on products
  • Ever increasing fees to sell on their marketplace
  • Counterfeit products that continue to plague FBA
  • Amazon themselves coming into private label
  • Other sellers copying your products and brand
  • Violations of RRP price models set by wholesalers
  • Challenges in analyzing profit / loss statements

These are all real. I’ve faced all of them. These concerns are directly from Amazon’s own research through a survey that was released recently. It included both online retailers, and private label sellers such as myself.

I promise you will come across all of these, and they are genuine risks to your Amazon business. I’d want to make you aware of them, so you’re not blinding walking into the jungle. There is some great recommended remedies.

Transcending the concerns

Through being proactive, you can mitigate and massive reduce these risks within your Amazon business. Here’s how:

  • Focus on building a brand, instead of just selling knick-knacks
  • Use strong trademarks and patents to protect your business IP
  • Always focus on improvement: “How can I make this better?”
  • The customers are always right, so provide world-class support
  • Find a good accountant to analyze profit and loss statements
  • Address negative feedback and reviews instantly with customers
  • Always stay within Amazon’s Terms of Service. Nothing sneaky
  • Keep all receipts to prove product authenticity to Amazon FBA
  • Create brand loyalty through effective packaging and leaflets
  • Remember that you can’t impress everybody, but aim for 95%

There are many more ways to address your concerns. If you haven’t already taken a course, I recommend doing so. A lot of these issues are addressed in detail.

Staying strong as an FBA seller

I always look at the big picture when selling on Amazon, and don’t sweat the small stuff. Last week I got my 1st account suspension ever. I panicked, but I remembered that I’m in this for the next 10 years. My account was reinstated within 24 hours, after realizing that my credit card that they tried to bill for PPC expenses was merely expired.

I believe too many people are short sighted here, whether as a beginner or intermediate seller. You’re expecting a million dollars by next week, and that isn’t going to happen sunny. It takes time, effort, hard work, sacrifice, headaches and frustration to sit in the shade 5 to 10 years from now.

You need to be proactive on Amazon FBA. Forget the passive income myth when you’re starting out. Sure – there’s (mostly) passive income that comes later on, especially if achieve the 7 figure exit, but you should always be on the double-down. Build your business with the end in mind, and stay on top of everything.
