7 Free Online Vision Board Platforms

We all have goals and aspirations, but actually turning a desire into reality can be challenging.

Whether you are a successful, regular goal-setter or the type of person who quits their New Year’s Resolutions by February 1st, vision boards can be a helpful tool to improve your life.

Traditionally, vision boards are created by assembling pieces of inspirational material into a collage. You can cut things out of magazines, write down inspirational quotes, or add memorabilia from your life.

Collecting these images can help you manifest your goals and turn your dreams into reality by using the Law of Attraction. In the early days of my journey, this worked wonders.

Today, many of us are past our days of arts and crafts. If you want to avoid covering yourself and your home in glue and glitter, but you are still attracted to making your dreams a reality, don’t fret! 😃

In today’s digital age, there are plenty of websites that allow you to make a vision board online. Ahead, we’ll explain the power of vision boards and give you our top picks for your own free online vision board.

How Do Vision Boards Work

You probably know that vision boards are a popular trend for self-improvement.

You may have a go-getter, self-help guru friend who swears by them. Or maybe you’ve heard how Oprah promotes vision boards as a way to get the life you want. Even powerful Olympic gymnasts incorporate visualization as part of their plans to achieve their goals.

But how does this work, and what is the science behind it?

The concept behind vision boards is based on the Law of Attraction. In essence, the law of attraction states that you attract things into your life based on your thinking. So, positive thoughts bring positive occurrences, and negative thoughts can manifest problems.

Using a vision board helps to define your goals and aspirations to harness the Law of Attraction principle.

You can either design a vision board around a specific goal you have in mind, such as running a marathon, around a certain theme like family or creativity, or around a general aspirational tone for your life.

Curating content for your vision board and then focusing your energy on this goal, theme, or outlook can act as a lightning rod for the Law of Attraction.

Definitive research is still inconclusive on whether vision boards can truly create changes in your life. Still, one thing is clear—the mindset and intention behind creating your vision board are just as important as the board itself.

In other words, you need to believe in a vision board in order to be able to take advantage of its potential power.

Best Free Online Vision Boards

I’ve gathered a list of the best free platforms for making your vision board online—and some might surprise you.

1. DreamItAlive

Unlike some of our other options for creating your free online vision board, DreamItAlive is a platform designed specifically with vision boards in mind.

Because of this, DreamItAlive’s signature Dreamboards have unique features designed with visualization and the power of positive thinking in mind.

Dreamboard offers a “guided wizard” to walk you through the process of designing your board using a large photo library or your own uploaded content.

After you make your board, you can share it with your family, friends, mentors, or even the online DreamItAlive community. Dreamboard offers a variety of creation options both on and offline, including collages, movies, and mugs.

2. Canva

Canva is a popular online graphic design platform. In fact, I used it to create many of my Pinterest pins including the very one below. Although it has a variety of uses besides vision boards, it is still a powerful, flexible, and simple tool for creating your vision boards.

In Canva, the easy-to-use drag and drop editor allows you to either start from scratch or pick a professionally-designed template to create the vision board of your dreams.

Canva’s free version includes a huge library of colorful photos, unique illustrations, and designer fonts for you to include in your collage. Upgrading to the Pro version unlocks a larger library along with some additional features, but the Basic plan is all you need to make a beautiful vision board. I personally use Pro and it’s worth the annual subscription by far for my business.

3. BeFunky

BeFunky is an online creative platform designed for photo editing, graphic design, and collages.

BeFunky’s collage maker offers a nearly effortless design tool for assembling your vision board from a variety of stock photos or your own pictures.

After you gather your content, BeFunky offers a unique feature that makes building the collage a breeze. The built-in “Collage Wizard” automatically creates a beautifully designed layout based on your uploaded content so you won’t have to play photo Tetris trying to create a perfect grid.

If you would rather flex your creative muscles, you can choose from a selection of customizable layouts and edit each color, font, and pattern until everything is perfect.

4. Adobe Express

Adobe Creative Cloud is renowned as a platform of creativity, but it also has a reputation for being very expensive and complicated.

But did you know that Adobe Express offers a free starter plan to create beautiful online graphics without a paid subscription?

Adobe Express is an online tool for quickly creating high-quality visual stories. Like some of the other platforms I’ve discussed, it can be used for anything from social media graphics to websites, and this flexibility helps ensure you can find the layout you want.

And it’s easier to use than you may think. Adobe Express (previously Adobe Spark) was created to have a user-friendly interface, so you won’t constantly be wondering how to use a certain tool.

Adobe Express’ tips for creating mood boards are a great place to get started, but you can also just let your creativity run wild with their extensive library of shapes and photos.

5. PhotoCollage

PhotoCollage is exactly what it sounds like—a collage maker.

The pared-down, streamlined interface provides a selection of simple but functional tools, allowing you to easily arrange your vision board. The editor even displays a list of keyboard shortcuts to help you create your design even more efficiently!

Although it doesn’t offer a built-in content library, PhotoCollage does have a wide variety of templates for you to use with your own photos.

It’s a perfect fit if you have already gathered your inspirational content and want a no-frills way to assemble it quickly—all without making an account.

6. Google Slides

Google Slides may be basic, but using a familiar platform allows you to avoid a steep learning curve. You want your focus to be on the vision board itself, not on struggling to figure out a new tool!

A presentation builder is a better choice for basic collage making than a word processor because you get more control over the positioning, size, and order of your photos.

In Google Slides, you can upload your own photos and arrange them however you want. You can adjust the size and even crop the photos to fit inside certain shapes. Then, you can add design features like lines, shapes, and text.

When you are satisfied with your finished creation, you can export your slide as a PDF file and print it out to hang in a good spot.

If learning a new tool is overwhelming, remember you don’t need anything fancy to create a vision board that helps you manifest your goals.

7. Pinterest

Pinterest is a great choice to make your free online vision board because you probably already have a Pinterest account, so getting started will be easy.

As a business owner, I love Pinterest as a product discovery tool, a marketing tool and a visual discovery engine. It has a reputation for DIY content like craft ideas and recipes, but it is also full of beautiful photographs and aspirational content.

You can search through this content and “pin” it to one of your boards. Find, click, and pin—that’s all it takes to build a vision board using Pinterest. And because you can have multiple boards, it is easy to categorize your content depending on your chosen focus.

The downside to Pinterest is that although it’s a great tool for gathering content, it does not offer any design features. You can create a board, but there is no easy way to print it out and hang it in your home.

Still, Pinterest is a great way to curate images and quotes for your vision board and could be used in conjunction with one of the other tools on this list for a more robust design experience.

Using Vision Boards to Make Your Dreams Come True

Finding a way to create a free online vision board is just one piece of the puzzle. But what comes next?

Step 1: Pick Your Platform

I just explored seven of the best options out there for your free online vision board creation. Consider how much time you want to spend on the board, how skilled you are with technology, and what features matter most to you.

Contemplate your options, but don’t get bogged down in this first step. The more important steps of self-reflection, creation, and visualization can happen on whatever platform you choose!

Step 2: Get In Touch With Your Emotions

If you are ready to make a vision board to achieve what you want, first you must determine what you want!

Take some time to explore your short-term goals, long-term dreams, hopes, and desires. Have a heart to heart with yourself. Think deeply about what your ideal life would look like.

Here are a few questions to contemplate to get you started:

  • What do you want to change in your life?
  • Who inspires you, and why?
  • What does happiness mean to you?
  • What do you want to achieve in the next six months? The next year? The next five years?

You can use these prompts as a jumping-off point for self-exploration. Don’t hesitate to dig deeper and learn more about yourself, because it will only help you to make a stronger vision board.

If you are having trouble thinking, you can use a journal to put your goals on paper or have a conversation with a trusted friend or family member. Then, use these insights to create your vision board.

Step 3: Get Focused

Most of us have a variety of different goals and aspirations for our lives, but when it comes to vision boards, it can help to narrow it down.

Try making a vision board that centers on one specific goal, theme, or feeling for your life. Focusing the content of the board will help you to more effectively focus on your positive visualizations.

Step 4: Get Creative

Once you have your goal in mind, it’s time to gather some content! Browse free stock photo image sites like Unsplash to find pictures that align with your vision board’s focus. Don’t forget to find some inspirational quotes also to add words to the mix.

Once you have collected a mix of content you are satisfied with, you get to embrace your creative side. Let your inner designer shine as you decide on a layout and color palette.

If you are worried you are not artistic enough, remember that the only person who has to like it is you.

Step 5: Make It Happen

Once your vision board is done, it’s time to let the Law of Attraction make the magic happen.

Print out your vision board and hang it in a prominent place where you can look at it every day. If you want to start your own business, place it near your desk. Training for a marathon? Hang it where you keep your running shoes.

Regularly looking at your vision board will ensure you can use your positive thinking to manifest your goals.
