Camplify Review: Is this any good? (Plus 7 Sites just like Camplify!)

If you’re looking for an alternative to Camplify, I’ve got you sorted in this review. There are numerous ways to hire caravans and campers across Australia.

This is a great concept in my opinion. I can see the benefits for both owners and renters on this platform.

How it works is quite simple – Camplify connects owners with renters, just like Airbnb. Except in this case, you can actually tow or drive the rig too!

The owners get some additional cashflow for their rig (caravan, trailer, motorhome etc) which is otherwise sitting on the driveway unused.

At the same time, renters can use a rig that would otherwise cost tens of thousands (and subsequently spend most of the time on the driveway).

But is it all that it’s cracked up to be? Are there better options out there? Let’s have a look.

Review of Camplify

This is an Australian website similar to Uber and Airbnb. In fact, it’s quite similar in some ways to Airbnb, except that you can actually hookup and take the rig with you, or simply drive it away in the case of a campervan or motorhome.

In fact, recently I was looking at a substantially large 4×4 rig on caravancampingsales.com.au that happened to appear on the Camplify website too. This is great, as it could give me the opportunity to test-drive the rig for more than half an hour and get a feel for how it handles.

You can earn a significant amount of money with this platform. There are reports of up to $15,000 per year! That’s the power and potential of the internet.

The sharing economy has opened the way for both owners and renters to get some real benefits, away from the corporate hires and their fussy rules. This peer-to-peer platform is now Australia’s #1 RV rental website, even with a 25% stake from Apollo.

Using the site has these upsides:

  • Pretty easy to navigate around and find what you’re looking for with Camplify
  • Many options – camper trailers, caravans, campervans and even motorhomes
  • Good support team available 7 days, who is mostly based here in Australia
  • If you’re an owner, you can list online. Naturally, renters can search for free
  • The commissions are only 5% which is great when most others charge more
  • If you don’t want to tow (or don’t have the vehicle), the owner can do the towing for you

Then there are some downsides:

  • Not all campers will be as clean or well presented as normal rental outlets
  • You’ll need to pay a $1,000 bond for every hire, even for 1 overnight trip
  • Sometimes the rig you’re inquring on could be double-booked on another site

Also, sometimes the insurance premium is quite excessive and turns some people away. It really depends on the value of the rig that you’re hiring, plus the location and type of place you’ll take the rig.

For example, you might pay less for a caravan that’s all towed and setup for you, whilst you might pay more to hire a 4×4 for an offroad adventure.

Now those downsides are minimal after all. There are significantly more upsides towards using this service.

7 Sites like Camplify

Camplify has now taken the #1 spot as Australia’s leading RV rental platform. But did you know there are smaller sites in the market? On these you might find unique rigs that might not be on Camplify.

I agree that Camplify is the perfect solution

There are some good Camplify alternatives available, both in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Here’s what I’ve seen out there:

  1. SHAREaCAMPER
  2. CampToo
  3. YouCamp (Doesn’t have rigs but some epic camp sites!)
  4. MyCaravan
  5. AirBNB (Yes, some people do let others hire vans on here)
  6. Gumtree, but be careful
  7. Stayz (Generally you can’t drive or tow rigs you find on Stayz)

It’s clear that Camplify has taken the top spot. Having looked at their membership volumes, many people ARE happy with their services.

Note: This list primarily is catered for Australians. Camplify has recently opened in the UK and some of these options might be available to you.

The problem with camping in Austrlaia

Many people dream of doing the big lap around Australia. The biggest issue is financing, because it costs an awful lot of money to do the trip.

Camplify Australia

You generally have three options:

  1. Save like crazy for 3 to 5 years before leaving (and come back totally broke)
  2. Work hard until you’re 65 before joining the grey nomad impromptu convoys
  3. Get work along the way and delay the progress of the trip (Not fun at all…)

But there is a better 4th option. One that I’ve found success with.

That is: Building an online business that can be run from anywhere.

Working from the laptop and earning reliable income stream.

That, to me, is true freedom. Because you don’t need to head off home, only to work again. You could, you know, keep going…

Even if you’re doing weekend trips, heading back home on Sunday afternoon is frustrating. For you and the kids.

Camplify Benefits

Ever wish you could stay just one more night? Or even an entire week?

The internet provides that possibility, through building your own work.

An opportunity like no other

I love building a business that I own, without the restrictions of a traditional business. Because no one wants to be tied to one location.

We all want freedom. To pull the laptop open at a campsite and start working.

Today, in 2019, it’s significantly easier to attain than it was 20 years ago.

But how?

With the right training and support.

By a community that helps individuals like you to get started the right way.

I got started with this 100% FREE training 4+ years ago and owe a lot to my mentor(s). This community has literally changed my life, and has the potential to change yours too.

This takes work. You’ll need to be prepared mentally and financially, but if you’re prepared to stick it out a few years, then this has some serious potential.

Camplify: In summary

Camplify is a great platform for Australia and the United Kingdom. I look forward to using it more and seeing this grow! Certainly it has some great rental options.

Sure – not everyone is happy, but most people are.

It’s a company sticking around for the long term.

Given that they are a newer company, there are going to be teething issues. The team remains proactive in addressing problems for both owners and renters that might arise.

Many people when writing reviews are generally only shouting out when bad issues arise, as in the case with Camplify. Most people don’t leave positive reviews, creating a false disparity between the good at the bad.

Let me elaborate: if more people who had positive experiences left a positive review, then you’ll find their rankings would sit around 4.8 stars.

It’s clear that Camplify are one of the best out there. They help connect owners and renters, so you don’t have to use boring corporate campervans. Owners can make a sizable income from renting out their rigs too.

As a renter, I’m still eyeing off that 4×4 rig I spotted yesterday. 🙂

Because whilst I now have a full-time online income, because I started here for free, I’m just missing the rig!

Catch you out there!
